So, this is my first Fun Friday blog (and Friday the 13th to boot). I was all excited to participate until it was time to write the post. That’s when panic set in. I mean, I’m not really funny, not intentionally. I sat, staring at the blank document, trying to pull something funny out of my…head.
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
Great, just great. “Okay, AR. Walk it off. Take a break. Get something to drink.”
As I’m headed into the kitchen I slipped and hit my elbow on the breakfast bar. “Son of a–” Deep breath. Kids around. Mommies don’t say those kind of things.
Looking down I see it’s a drawing one of the little boys did and left on the ground. (Why? Who knows.) Behind me is a small giggle. I turn to see my littlest boy, Super Wy, sitting in the recliner with a juice box in one hand and a spoon full of peanut butter in the other, laughing at me.
“That funny, Mom,” he says in his cutest toddler voice.
Well, my Friday blogs here would be great if I could record all my clumsy moments. I’d never have to write anything. Mommy stepping on legos. Mommy tripping on the plastic dinosaurs down the back stairs. Oh, and here, Mommy arguing with Daddy because she doesn’t think the Carlito’s Way machine gun lamp would look good in her living room. (I mean, come on, machine gun base with the shade being a depiction of Al Pacino’s “say hello to my little friend” scene.)
Alas, no such luck.
At this point, Super Wy goes into one of his ramblings about super heros and not needing to walk. Most of it is not understandable, what with the mouthful of peanut butter and all. But it hit me why I was so excited to participate in this Fun Friday blog. Not because I’m funny, but because living the life as a wife and mother lets me experience fun and funny things. This is what I wanted to share with you all.
So, instead of me trying to force the funny, here’s a Super Wy rambling. I was able to capture it during one of our great camping trips. (He’s attempting to tell a ghost story.)

Your video of your little boy is so cute. He’s really into that story. LOL.
Life is just funny sometimes, without even having to be interpreted that way.
Thanks Katsrus. Super Wy is definitely into his stories. They get away from him sometimes, but man they are fun to listen to.
Completely Joanne. What’s also great about life is that sometimes things aren’t funny at the moment (example, Carlito’s Way lamp) but later one they are amusing.
And thank you, Sandi, for letting me come geek out on your blog once a month.
Yep, just look around and there’s an epiphany moment! You found a good one, Amber.
Happy Friday.
Very cute vid of your little one, AR.
And it’s true, funny things can happen anytime.
Love it. Super Wy vs. Writer’s Block.
Thanks all for stopping by and reading my little story! I’m going to like hanging out here every month!
(heehee…yes, Jarod, and I believe Super Wy won it. It was the cute factor…kung fu chops writer’s block every time.)
