Weekend Writing Warriors–What’s she doing here?

Happy Sunday, all. This is the first week that there won’t be a Six Sentence Sunday, so instead, a bunch of authors got together and formed Weekend Writing Warriors, a gathering place for writers to post eight sentences from a work in progress or a book that’s been published.

Today, I’m sharing a snippet from my recently released short story SWEETER THAN SUGAR. It’s an erotic contemporary that features the naughty bad boy Chef Kyle. You might remember him from my short story BUTTERCREAMED in the Hooked Up at the Wedding anthology from last summer. You can buy SWEETER THAN SUGAR for $1.49 at Amazon and All Romance ebooks.

Set-up: Kyle is winding down from a cake competition at a restaurant when the woman who walked out on him shows up.

SweeterThanSugar_FinalThe waiter left and Kyle stopped talking, his tongue thick as if he’d forgotten how to communicate as a leggy blonde slipped into the seat across from him.

“Hi, Kyle.”

His jaw dropped. His stomach bottomed out. His cock jumped. Cold tremors played down his spine at hearing that throaty voice. “Paige?” He couldn’t move, couldn’t remember how to breathe in her presence. Instead, he raked his gaze over her face.

Here’s the blurb: Kyle Morrison, cake baker extraordinaire, has entered a cake decorating competition—a prize check and a cable show are just some of what’s riding on the first place spot. Despite being in the happiest place on earth, Kyle can’t shake memories of Paige Renfield, the woman who’d rocked his world after a wedding reception hook-up then subsequently dumped him. When she crashes Kyle’s celebratory dinner with shadows, need and something else in her eyes, his world tilts once again.

Can a night of sweet talking and hot sex lead to a permanent relationship? If the chef has his way, it will. He’ll definitely never look at candy the same way again.
